As the only wolfdog shelter specializing in social, friendly animals, visiting our shelter gives guests the rare opportunity for one-on-one interaction with wolfdogs. During your two-hour tour, you will meet our ambassador animals Denali, Beaore, and Reagan, as well as over fifteen of our currently-adoptable wolfdogs. You will be given opportunities to give scritches, pets, treats, and bellyrubs to low-, mid- and high-content wolfdogs while receiving kisses and plenty of photo opportunities in return. Tours are led by senior volunteers who are versed in the history of individual animals and who are happy to answer questions and dispel misconceptions about wolves and wolfdogs. At the end of your tour, you’ll be given a chance to peruse souvenirs in our gift shop, so you can always remember your experience here at TWP.

Tours are available on Saturdays from 11am-5pm and during the week by appointment only. Tour donations are $45 for those over the age of 13, and $20 for children under 13. As a 501c3 all-volunteer organization, 100% of your tour donation goes towards caring for our animals.

FURTHER TOUR INFORMATION:

While we welcome children, please note that children under the age of twelve will only be permitted to enter a few of our enclosures. Tours with young children will still be introduced to all of our animals through the fence, but you will only be able to have hands-on interactions with some of our wolfdogs.
On our highly interactive tours, you may receive kisses, unconditional love, and muddy pawprints from being jumped on. We recommend wearing closed-toe shoes and clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.
Our tours are primarily an outdoor activity and will be held rain or shine! Please check the weather forecast when planning your day.
If you are not greeted by a volunteer upon arrival, please knock on the door of either the rescue building or the house. Do not approach the enclosures, stick your hands through the fencing, or attempt to pet any of the dogs without permission and supervision.
Please do not bring your personal pets. If weather allows, you will be asked to leave them in your car for the duration of your visit. If we are concerned that weather conditions pose a threat to your animal if left in a car unattended, we will ask that you reschedule.
No running, yelling, or other behavior that might frighten or upset our wolfdogs. Children under the age of fourteen must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Adults must sign a liability waiver for insurance purposes and anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present to sign on their behalf.

BEST PRACTICES WHILE ON YOUR TOUR

As wolfdogs tend to be more timid than other breeds of dog, it is best to kneel or sit on the platforms and benches within the enclosure when first entering. When a wolfdog first approaches you, pet the underside of their neck—do not put your hand over the top of their head or their shoulders.
Do not grab the animals by their collars (if wearing one), paws, tails or faces as some are sensitive in these areas.
While many will be happy to give you kisses, wait for the dog to approach you. Do not stick your face in their face.
Do not hover over, hug, push or grab them. Do not lean over a dog who is lying down in order to pet them.
A wolfdog who walks away is actively choosing to disengage with you and attend to important wolfdog business. Please do not follow them.
If an animal takes one of your items, do NOT try to take it away from them. Alert your tour guide so they can safely retrieve the item for you.
